Who is this for, and who is it not for?

This is for you if you want to connect more deeply with yourself. You want the deep wisdom of your body to unfold and are willing to listen to it. Ideally, you have some experience in the broader realm of bodywork, meditation or breathwork. You may or may not have physical symptoms: places where your body is already telling you that something is out of balance. If you are on medication, please don't book blindly – talk to me first. This is not for you if you are looking for a wellness or sports massage. It is not physiotherapy.

What if my topic involves my sexuality?

Accepted Answer

If you know that your intention, or the topic you want to work on, involves your sexuality or sits in your reproductive organs: that is a subfield of Dearmouring, and going there is part of my offering. In that case, I suggest having a session with me first – or at least a conversation – before booking a session with that intention.

Question 3

Do I need to have done bodywork before?

No – I will guide you through. What you do need is curiosity, or openness, to meet your inner world, and to go to places you might not know yet, or that might feel deeply vulnerable to be in with somebody else.

Do I need an issue to work on?

Accepted Answer

Just curious is enough. You don't need an issue to treat, but I highly recommend coming with a clear intention.

What should I wear?

Clothes you feel comfortable in and that work for touch: yoga pants are better than jeans. I work through clothes or on the skin. You decide what feels best, so that your system can relax and trust.

How are touch and consent handled?

Touch is involved in Dearmouring (Somatic Inquiry can be without touch). Before the session, we talk about consent, including where touch is okay. Consent can always be withdrawn, and you should withdraw it as soon as a touch doesn't feel good anymore. But if we set clear boundaries before the session – for example, that it will not involve internal touch – we will not go there, even if you ask for it in the heat of the session. For the next session, we can set new boundaries from a clear mind.

What if I want to stop, or it feels like too much?

You can always stop. You're in charge – it's your session.

Question 8

What if nothing happens, or I can't feel anything?

Accepted Answer

Bring it up in the session. A big part of Dearmouring is bringing back aliveness and sensitivity where it hasn't been before. And if you are disappointed at the end of the session, you get your money back (minus the room rent).

Dearmouring or Somatic Inquiry?

Energetically, and in my role as a practitioner, these are very different modalities – let's talk about it. Practically, the main difference is that Somatic Inquiry does not require touch, while Dearmouring works primarily through touch.

How do people feel afterwards?

Usually more alive, more present, more themselves. For the rest of the day, I recommend taking it slow, not rushing into the next thing, and drinking plenty of water.

How often should I book?

After a session, I recommend a week of integration before coming to a new session – unless it's a really big process and the first session ended on an open note. In that rare case, I suggest a second session to close it, as soon as the body has had some food and rest.
